Stepper Point Quarry © Luke Evason-Browning
Stepper Point Quarry is a venue with stunning views and great quality rock. Located at the mouth of the Camel Estuary, when you are not pulling hard on rock, you can sit back and watch the world go by. Whilst a lot of the more obvious lines have now been climbed in this quarry, there is still a lot of room for development, especially on the sea cliffs/boulders below the quarry.
A quiet crag, you rarely meet other people. The people who come into the quarry are normally curious costal path hikers or people fishing.
Please note: The topos provided for climbs produced in the first wave of development of this crag are drawings. This is born out of the first ascentionist’s personal taste for illustrated guide books. The hope is for the topos to act more as a rough guide, in order to allow future climbers to feel the same sense of exploration and discovery on the routes. If you want more accurate guidance for lines, please contact the moderator directly, and video footage can be shared of ascents.
Topos have been provided for buttresses that the first ascentionist has deemed to have routes of interest and/or value. Most lines climbed have been recorded, regardless of quality, for the sake of comprehensiveness.
When walking along the coastal path on the way to the Stepper Point Daymark, take a turning right down an overgrown path. Follow this path and you will enter the quarry. Once inside, you either need to walk across stepping stones, or scramble along the rocks on the left.
Free parking on road: 50°33'30.1"N 4°57'24.1"W - please note that this road can be busy with hikers.
Please note that Stepper Point is an AONB.
