The frankly spectacular cliffs at Oldren were explored in 2002 by Lars Audun Nornes. The crag features in the 2002 guidebook with a simple overview but is only very briefly described in the 2010 Trønder Rock guidebook. The south facing aspect and sea view are incredible however the rock quality is not and this is evidenced by the horrendous volumes of scree below the cliffs.
Hovedveggen is described and here two project lines were begun. It is unclear if any of these were finished or if the indicated top anchors are indeed in place. An exploratory trip in 2024 found only two bolts at the start of the rightmost indicated line.
The best approach is to park at the small parking area for the hiking trails at the carpark by Velvangen farm. Then follow the well marked trail up through the hillside to Geithulu. When the path opens up and reaches the obvious scree field, bushwack in towards the cliffs. It is strongly reccomended with some gardening gloves and a small saw/ seceteurs as the vegetation is extremely dense with a lot of spikey bushes. This path avoids climbing the loose and tedious scree fields below the wall.
