A cluster of westerly facing boulders in a woodland just to the right of a feeder burn of the finnart river. Rock is really good quality and quite unique for the area in that it almost has a sandstone type feel to it. The boulders are all under trees and so don't dry very fast but equally don't suffer from any seepage at all so aren't slow to dry either. All are ideal height for bouldering with good landings. One pad plus a small one for bum starts and keeping feet dry is enough in general.
Park at Baron Turner forest track entrance. Hike down the right hand branch to its end at the valley bottom. Continue another 15 metres and cross the river on fallen trees. On other side of the river, walk uphill till an old overgrown forest road is reached around 20 metres beyond the river. Following this right leads to lower Craigoyle buttress. Instead follow it left for a few metres and follow a faint trail upwards across a heathery meadow on its right hand side following the treeline on the right. Once the route upwards hits trees, enter the woods and continue uphill around 50 metres to get to the boulders.Total approach time 10 minutes
