The West face of the Gran Bernardè is a big wild long wall. It is almost entirely unexplored, except for its West spur exploited by the Grassi-Lang route. The rock is a generally good gneiss, although carefullness is required as for wild terrain in general.
From Alboni, take the track for "Laghi di Unghiasse". The track ascend the woods towards right entering the valley of Unghiasse in the big level of "Pian delle Riane". Follow again the signs for "Laghi di Unghiasse" on a track on the right side (faceing the mountain) of the valley continuing ascending. The big West wall of the Gran Bernardè is on the right and when the track strat ascending leftward leave it heading to a big and steep scree. The scree descend exactly from the big loose gully on the left of the spur. The route attack the spur right in the center above some big blocks, following a crack which bypasses a roof on the left.
