Climbs 62
Rocktype Sandstone (soft)
Altitude 7m a.s.l
A pleasant bouldering crag situated in a stunning spot on the East Neuk coastline.
To date, there are only a handful of climbs but there is potential for many more - particularly for boulderers with a good supply of pads!
On most days, pads aren't necessary - the sand provides soft landings - but the tide occasionally washes in pebbles. To the left of the listed climbs, there are unclimbed routes for which pads would be essential.
While it appears there's potential for trad climbs here, we recommend leaving the gear at home. The top band of the crag is very loose and top-outs are terrifying!
There are four approaches:
1. From the Ardross Farm Shop and Cafe on the Elie-St. Monans road (1min).
2. From a large lay-by 100m before the farm shop (coming from Elie) (2 mins).
3. From Elie itself - park at the beach and enjoy one of the best stretches of the Fife Coastal Path as a warmup (30 mins).
4. From St. Monans - park near the harbour and follow the coastal path towards Elie (20 mins).
The crag is located directly below the ruins of Ardross Castle, just 50m or so from the entrance to the farm shop.
