Crag features

This crag is split between 2 levels, the first reached is in the forest, a pleasant 20m slab with 2 routes. The rock quality is best here however as it is shaded by the trees it dries rather slowly.

The higher level is reached by climbing the steep slope with aid from a fixed rope which continues along the base of the crag. The rock here is more fragile and care should be taken as blocks do come off (belayers should wear helmets!). This area stays dry in light rain.

There was a ravens nest which appeared to be no longer in use (May 2025) on the ledge midway up Groovy Tuesday so avoid this area during nesting season (early/mid Spring).

Approach notes

There is plenty of space to park at the disused buildings by thd entrence to the recycling centre. From here either walk south along the road and scramble up the scree slope to the base of the cliff which is visible from the road or go up the hill toward the recycling centre and after 50m take a track on the left for 5 minutes, pass over a slag heap and enter the forest proper where the crag will be upslope on your right.

Access Advice

The crag is on private land and although there have been no issues in the past it is advised that climbers respect the area and do not do anything to upset the locals or the land owners.

Avoid the area in spring as the cliffs have been used by nesting ravens in previous years.
