Crag features

A big limestone cave at La Thuile.

In the shade from 12.00 so ideal for the hot summer months. Steep climbing on limestone (a rarity for the Valley). The rock is often rough as the crag is not super popular due to its location and style.

Approach notes

Approach: 30/40 minutes.

Park at 45.7196068, 6.9472184. From the car park walk towards the village and cross the bridge, turn right at the ‘Hotel Le Miramonti’ keeping the river on tour right.

Walk past a small car park and a small park. Start to walk uphill on a well defined path towards the ‘Falesia degli Alpini’.

Stay on the path and walk past the ‘Falesia degli Alpini’.

Keep going on the path in the forest and walk past a first rocky avalanche chute. Just before the second avalanche chute, get off the path and turn left (see yellow paint on saying Bucovat).

Follow the steep trail going uphill. There are a few yellow-marked rocks on the way that guide towards the cave, however it’s easy to get lost. Stay on the path as much as possible and don’t get on the rocky avalanche chute as it’s harder.

The cave is roughly at 45.7197837, 6.9457469 and it’s visible from the path (see photos)
