Crag features

Part of Fiordland National Park. Mainly diorite with some areas of granite. Map location shows Homer Hut.

Note: The grades in the logbook are Scottish grades (for winter climbs). The Darrans grade is given in the climb description.

This is the major alpine rock climbing destination of the South Island. A new guide has recently been published by the NZAC. It details sport crags to rarely visited huge walls in deepest dampest fiordland. The main climbing season begins in February.

Volunteer to moderate The Darrans
We rely on volunteers to moderate their local crags. You would check updates and approve climbs added to the database. It's a very easy job, and all you need is a guidebook and an hour or two each month. [ read more ]
