Cala Barques is the most popular DWS crag in Mallorca. There are five areas to explore. The first is a short walk along the left side of the bay (looking out to sea), which brings you to an awesome stalactite cave known as the Cova Area. At roughly 14m high, this cave gives you the opportunity to push your limits without risking a huge fall. Further along the cliff are two more caves: left is the Metrosexual Area and right is the Snatch Area. Both lead into a giant grotto, which can also be accessed from the top of the cliff. On the same headland but a bit further over is another cave with a bulging wall to its right. This is the Tarantino Cave, the largest cliff in Barques, which contains some of the most challenging routes on the island. Further on is the impressive Muscles Cave which so far only has one route.
|As of 7th October 2017, parking enforcement appears to be in place if parking down the track. You can drive down to drop gear and then one person drive the car back to the road to park. It's worth the extra walk in, what a place! Amazing...|
