Crag features

One of the best crags on the east side of the Sierra contains a very good selection of (mostly) well-bolted sport climbs from 5.10 to 5.12 as well as a handful of excellent traditional climbs. The rock is granite of the highest quality, as good as anything on the east side. This is a good choice for summer cragging being at a fairly high elevation. It can still be warm in the sun but in the summer goes into the shade around 1pm.

In addition to the routes there are a number of excellent boulder problems on the boulders scattered in the trees beneath the crag. Again rock quality is excellent and these boulders make a nice change from other bouldering in the Bishop area. They can be a good choice when other Bishop venues are too warm.

Approach notes

Access is through the Big Meadow Campground off the Rock Creek Road. Take Rock Creek Road west at the Tom's Place exit off Hwy 395. Pick up a trail in the campground. Cross a creek, through some trees to a big talus field. A path through this has been marked, but essentially head up the talus to the base of the crag.

No Access Issues

Park on the Rock Creek Road outside the campground rather than in the campground itself.
