Crag features
The rock routes in this area are long and on incredible granite, many starting directly off the glacier below leading to an unforgettable day.
The Plaisir West Schweiz (Band II) gives good hand drawn topos of the routes with info on pitch length and difficulty as well as approach descriptions and maps.
Stay in the lovely 'L'Envers des Dorees' Bivouac Hut (sleeps 6) which costs 10 CHF a night and is situated approximately 45-60 minutes walk from the routes.
Approach notes
Take the lift from Champex-Lac and walk around 2 hours to the Orny hut (good climbing can also be found in this area and is covered in the guide). From here continue for around 30 minutes before turning onto the Trient glacier, head up and across this to a col to the east of the Aigulles Dorées. From here head south till reaching the hut. Total approach and 5 hours, map and lat/long positions given in the guide. The routes are located 45-60 minutes to the west of the hut. The hut can also be reached from the Glacier du Tour or by heading up the Glacier de Saleina.
