Crag features

The rocky peak of the Baou de Saint-Jeanet is one of the outstanding features of this part of the Cote d'Azur, and is clearly visible from the coastal motorway. There is something for most tastes here, from tiny track-side single-pitches to 200m+ epics on the Main Face. The fixed gear is generally excellent and many of the routes have their names painted at their base. It can get busy, both on the short routes and on the bigger classics.

The crags are generally sunny and rapid drying, though La Source gets morning shade. The altitude - especially on the main face - can take the edge off the heat, more so if there is a breeze blowing.

Approach notes

Approach Saint-Jeannet from either Vence or Carros on the D2210. Park in the extensive tiered car park on the left just before the road enters Saint-Jeannet (often very busy at weekends). Walk up the steps and turn left into the pleasant village. From here, the approaches are described with each crag.

Beautiful village, nice crag. The single pitch routes at La Source are generally very well bolted, on many routes the first clip is reachable from the ground. The main face is a nice contrast, more adventurous multipitch with great exposure and just enough loose rock to remind you you're on a real mountain.
