Oberried is popular and easily accessible crag in the Ötztal area of Austria with 150+ routes on good granite. The crags face a little north of east and the afternoon shade available is of great appeal in hot weather. There is sa very good spread of grades here from super-easy though to mid-sevens though there isn't much very hard stuff. The crag base is very child friendly and there are even a couple of play areas. Signs warn of the danger of cows with calves in the season.
Good topo here.
The Ötztal valley is situated to the southeast of Imst and the main east to west Inn valley, 40km east of Innsbruck. From the main A12 Imst to Innsbruck motorway, turn south on the 186. After 10km the huge crag of Engelswand is visible over on the left, continue through Umhausen to Längenfeld, 22km from the valley entrance. Turn right (west) at the northerly roundabout (signed 'Oberried') and drive down here for 1.5km to a left-turn signed to the 'kletter-garten'. The parking is 0.4km down here - it costs €3 per day, but this also includes Engleswand if visited on the same day. The crags are visible through the gate and across the field.
