Rocktype Grit (quarried)
Altitude 400m a.s.l

Three quarries of generally good quality rock. Set in moorland in a fine position, dries quickly. Worth a visit if combined with Running Hill Pits. A good sunny evening venue. Mainly low to middle grade climbing. Best routes are The Arete (VD), Prime Cut (HVS 5a), deception (HVS 5b) and Taa McCallum (E4 6a).
From crossroads at the King William(IV) Hotel in Greenfield, follow Kinders Lane to where it levels out (Fur Lane)and forks. Take the left-hand (uphill) fork to limited parking at the final crest of the road at a bend. Follow footpath towards memorial to stile, then trend left towards a small scree slope (in front of the first of the quarries), 10 min.
|There are plenty of additional routes & problems recorded in the new Over The Moors guidebook.|

|Not a bad place, although some of the landings are a bit iffy. One of those places where you have to walk about a bit to find the best bits. Plenty of opps for those with a bit of time to kill. Best on a bright warm day.|
