The most popular climbing at Ailefroide is on the east side of the valley. The huge La Draye walls are extremely popular as are Les Petites Dalles. There are numerous multi-pitch routes and a lot of single-pitch sections as well. Virtually all the climbs are slabby in nature. They receive sun in the afternoon.
The routes are more easily reached than on the opposite side and are mostly approach from the big parking area.
For Spit on Cup area: cross the road bridge and carry on straight up a track through the buildings. Turn right at the last building, and follow the path with red and white waymarks until a small section of La Petite Dalles appears on your left. Here, follow the path signposted for Tête de la Draye/Les Choulières/Chambran (slight left) and then when it splits again after a few metres follow Les Choulières/Chambran. At what3words ///plan.tablecloths.envisioned follow the path uphill on your left. The first two routes of the sector are here, Spit on Cup and La Dernier Neanderthal and just over a short scramble
2 mins from carpark, but up scree slope
