Crag features

Nestled near the village of Olba in southeastern Teruel, Alto Mijares offers high-quality limestone climbing in a stunning natural setting. The area features a variety of single-pitch routes up to 40 meters, spread across multiple sectors along the scenic Mijares River. Thanks to its diverse orientation, climbers can find routes in both sun and shade, making it a great year-round destination.

Unlike some of the more crowded climbing areas nearby, Alto Mijares provides a more relaxed atmosphere, with sectors spaced out enough to offer tranquility while still delivering plenty of route variety. Its proximity to renowned crags like Chulilla, Montanejos, and Albarracín makes it an excellent stop on a climbing trip through the region.

For those looking to stay, the Refugio Alto Mijares, run by local route setters, offers comfortable camping and caravanning facilities at the heart of the climbing area. Whether you’re visiting for a few days or planning a longer stay, Alto Mijares is a destination that keeps climbers coming back for its quality rock, beautiful landscape, and welcoming climbing community.
