The approach directions in the latest "crag climbs in Chamonix" guide are utterly wrong. To get there, follow the track from Le Lavancher heading towards the cafe/buvette as described, and once a stream is crossed on a wooden duckboard/bridge, look out on the right for a tiny path leading down hill into a deep gully with a stream. Two "via ferrata" steps are on the near side bank of the stream, and other handrails and steps lie beyond it. Modern lower-offs exist, but their locations don't seem to match those described in the guidebook. Be very careful if abseiling into the unknown from this fixed equipment. The whole place had a forlorn, overgrown and unused air about it in late July 2013. Pete_Frost - 23/Jul/13
