Baxterley Quarry © Sid Sherborne

Crag features

Probably the Warwickshire crag with the most potential (except maybe Guy's Cliffe), but that isn't saying much.

Recently covered in bolts by persons unknown.

Approach notes

Park courteously here. Walk up Merevale Lane and enter the quarry by ducking under the obvious opening in the fence.

Got in touch with the Merevale Estate via Blyth Hall Response as follows: However public access to the site is not permitted and, following a serious accident a number of years ago, all recreational climbing on the quarry has been prohibited. There is no intention of changing the policy. The quarry is, in addition, a Registered Geological Site and a maintenance regime has been imposed on the site and its environs in order to protect it which mitigates against recreational use.

I recently contacted the Merevale Estate office who have ownership over the quarry. They're saying it's dangerous to climb on so I'm assuming from that access isn't being granted. If you were to visit you'd probably be asked to leave for trespassing.
