Sharon enjoying the new climbs at Beck Wythop © GrahamUney

Crag features

A newly developed sport crag on an old road cutting close to Bassenthwaite Lake. The easy approach and friendly bolting is likely to make this a popular venue. The easier climbs are satisfyingly juggy,  while the harder climbs are crimpy and technical.

For the most part the rock is solid, though as with any new crag there are some loose holds. The climbs are up to 10m in height.

Approach notes

From Keswick, follow the A66 towards Cockermouth and take the turning signposted Beck Wythop immediately before the speed check/dual carriageway. The car park is here. Follow the old road back in the direction of Keswick, the crag is 200m on the right (2 minute walk).
