Crag features

August 2025: Barn owls nesting/roosting in the central crack. probably best avoided.

Reasonable quality rock, up to 12m high (formerly 20m), with some loose finishes, although some abseil stations have been placed. A good summer evening venue for the VS to E2 climber. The best routes are Princess Anne's crack (HVS 5a), Black Holes (VS 4b), and Bibbington Wall (E4 6b). Landscaping work reduced the size of the routes and removed routes 16 to 20 in the Stoney guide.

Also note that descriptions in the Stoney guide describe the full routes, so the starts are hard to find as those features are now buried.

Approach notes

Victory Quarry on the O.S. map. USE THIS APPROACH (not the one in the guide). Just after the traffic lights as you leave Dove Holes in the direction of Buxton is a minor road on the left (Longridge Lane). Follow this for 0.4 miles to a gated track leading down to a car parking area by the lake, this is now only accessible to anglers so don't drive down as the gate maybe locked at anytime. Instead park in the Lay-by by the gate.

Walk down the track through the next gate, follow the track that bears left as you pass the end of the small lake and follow it ahead to the LHS (east) side of the largest lake. Walk around the east side of the lake and as you pass the grass bank that runs down to the lake, the quarry wall can be seen on the right, tucked behind some trees.
