A crag leaning the wrong way.
Park on Woodhouse Lane (GPS Coordinates). Walk up the permissive path until rocks start appearing on your left. Follow these around until the crag and its giant tree come into view.
Gorgeous crag with an ancient tree in the middle of it. The tree has actually engulfed a block of the crag which is quite cool. Spent a good 45 mins looking for this crag once i'd arrived in the woods. Bugger to find. You have to almost double back on yourself along a lane with these weird , low lying corrugated structures down the left. It opens up into some rough fields which you follow a vague path uphill and to the left. Best way to find the crag is with the GPS on your phone rather than trying to see it visually. Once you find it though, especially in spring like I did today, it was really beautiful. The canopy of the central tree covers the entire crag making it feel very private and quite magical to be honest. The crag itself is fairrly clean, there's a Holly bush where the main boulders are that needs removing, and more Holly on the landing zone that could do with gardening. Im looking forwards to combing back with a pad and maybe making some new boulders. NimbleNeil - 16/May/20 |
