Weatherproof climbing at Camarasa sector La Selva. © LeeWood

Crag features

Due to the close proximity of a hydro-electric dam, Camarasa does not share the same idyllic setting as many crags in the Lleida region. Nevertheless, this is an important crag and is well worth a visit, particularly if staying locally.

The West or North-West facing sectors offer shaded climbing into the afternoon, with a wide spread of grades from IV to 8c+ on generally excellent quality limestone.

A large number of roadside routes are available for a quick evening or rest-day hit that are not as polished as you might expect given you can belay from your car.
For those wishing to explore a little further, a network of paths weave up the hillside to a wide variety of routes and styles to suit most tastes.

Please note that absence of stars on routes in the database does not mean absence of quality. There are some excellent routes to be found in the sectors above the road which are well worth seeking out. Go to it!

Pete O'Donovan's excellent website contains up to date information including topo's of recently bolted sectors: http://www.lleidaclimbs.com

Approach notes

Parking is available in a number of lay-bys along the access road underneath the crag. Please be considerate with your parking, leaving enough room for cars to pass climbers belaying by the roadside safely.

Please note that access to some of the upper sectors (Fashion, La Selva) requires following a few short sections of via ferrata.

* Crestes de Conil South/North are accessed further down the C-13 heading back towards Camarasa village.

As mentioned in the crag description, don't let the lack of stars for the routes put you off. Some fantastic routes, especially in the 6's. Highly recommended, great rock.
