Perhaps the only rock in Manchester? Beggars can't be choosers!
A sandstone cutting approximately 7m high and nearly 100m long next to the Bridgewater Canal. Rock quality varies massively from compressed sand to a hard crust reminiscent of grit. Good for an hour or two in the evening, best avoided until the rock has had chance to dry after a shower. Landings are good unless there's a car parked in your way.
No access issues to report. The bottom of the climbs is a car park, climb responsibly to avoid annoying anyone parked there. Cheers!
Not as bad as I thought it would be. Quite a lot to go at and the shapely features can lead to some interesting climbing. Be warned though it's in full view of the canal path, which gets busy on a nice day. Not one if you're self-conscious.
Police walked past us while we were climbing here and didn't bat an eye so I think assume no access issues.
The rock is super soft in places so not a place to take someone with bad footwork as they'll mess up the holds in a couple of goes. jonzza - 30/Mar/21 |
