The great traverse of Gallop Step on Clogwyn y Bustach © Mark Reeves

Crag features

Rarely used but has some good routes up to 220ft, all multi-pitch routes but for one (a 30ft 6a boulder problem). Perhaps best fun for Lockwood's Chimney (Diff) - often done in the dark when drunk.

Approach notes

Best reached from the Cwm Dyli power station - don't park inside the gates. Take the footbridge over the river, to a path which heads up the hillside over a col, when the cliff appears abruptly.

Seems to be some sort of construction at the power plant, parking there while they're working is improbable.

New North Wales Bouldering says to park at the power plant, but when we got there we were informed by a delightfully crusty couple that they had worked hard and paid money to be able to park there but we were not worthy of such an honour. Probably easier to park 100 metres or so back up the road rather than risk having a similar experience, which was a bit like getting savaged by a wet flannel.
