UKC

1635m, 29 pitches. The longest rock route in South America. Even just reaching the start of the wall, El Monstro, in the heart of the Valle del Bestia, is a challenge, involving a descent through a vertical forest and head high swamp.
The rock quality is excellent throughout and the views just get better as you climb higher! The first 8 pitches can be simul climbed around 5.4 - 5.7. The next 12 pitches are fairly sustained around 5.10 and offer some beautiful climbing. Towards the summit the final 5/ 6 pitches involve snow. This can be soft and fluffy, hard neve or bullet hard ice depending on the conditions. At least one Ice axe per team and crampons are recommended although many people manage with bamboo canes/ walking poles. A decent back down the route would be pretty horrendous.
