Crag features

The craggy old wooded hillside above the west end of Aberfoyle. It is characterised by a south-facing  scree slope and big quarry with associated boulders below in the woods. Due to a birdban and sensitive ecosystem, please climb here outside of summer breeding months.

Approach notes

Park considerately in Aberfoyle in front of the Church of Scotland on the road west to Inversnaid. Walk west to the small row of houses and follow the path behind these uphill to zig zag left up to find the boulders in the woods. Higher up in the quarry are some more boulders but they are a little clustered with some bad landings. Parking for these is best at the Duke's Pass carpark - charge. Please respect the protected nature of the area and don't climb in the quarry and the elder slab and 20/30  sector in summer when peregrines are nesting.

Restricted Access

Protected national park. Bird ban in the quarry sector and 20/30 area when peregrines are nesting.

Has anyone climbed this slab ? Every time I drive under it makes me think "should I check it out....."
