The Pod at Creag Liath with hand-out crack to the left © Burnsie

Crag features

An impressive looking crag on the hillside above the south end of Loch Eck which was possibly done a disservice in the last guide. Most of the routes on the main wall are manky and could do with a scrub on abb. The top smaller wall is quite clean. Potential for some new lines, could do with a couple more belay stakes.

Some winter lines on frozen turf/iced up cracks of anywhere from 10-30m.

Approach notes

Park in the new carpark at inverchapel built by forest enterprise. Follow a good path straight up the 'red route' and near to the view point, follow the burn to top of crag.

Not worth it at all, approach just gets really slippy towards the rock, walls are covered in moss and lichen as well as lots of seepage pouring through making most of the climbs redundant. Avoid!

This crag is not even worth the climb, let alone the approach. The last section of approach is trudging through soft ground and trees that are super slippy and can be quite dangerous if you fall. Most of the rock with potential climbs is covered in lichen and there was so much seepage coming through that half the wall is redundant. We attempted to start multiple climbs but there was so much choss and moss that it wasn't worth it. Routes need a good clean for this to be even considered and they do not get much sun at all.
