Dan Bailey on The Roost © Steve Perry

Crag features

Steep and well protected on very good rock and south facing. Land of DD and Bardo Thodol are each three pitches, and hard for E1. An excellent crag. [John Hall 6/04]

Bardo Thodol has been upgraded to E2 in the new Northern Highlands North guide [Stuart Stronach 3/07]

Must Dos :
Bardo Thodol E2 5b
Land of the Dancing Dead E1 5b
Tank Top E6 6b (!)
The Roost VS 4c

Pronounced something like "HORRL-ya".

Approach notes

75 mins easy walk but can be a little wet. Abseil descent is not always easy to find.

There is an ab point about 10m up P2 of The Roost. There is an ab station in a fairly obvious gully about 50/60m (or thereabouts) to the left of the top of Bardo Thanol (looking out from the crag). You can't see the tat until you scramble down the gully a few metres.

A steady 75/90 minute approach that is usually wet, but almost flat the entire way. Where the quad bike track ends, head directly for the bothy and you'll soon pick up the path again over plank bridges.
