An extraordinary friend at Croz de le Niere © Karsten
The crag of Croz de la Niere, along with Tione, is found set in a splendid and natural setting at the end of the Giudicarie valley. Located just beyond the village of Preore, access to most sectors is very short allowing a hit-and-run approach to climbing.
It is split into many sectors, with both single pitch and 2 pitch routes. Most of the single pitch routes are up to 25m and so fine on a 50m single rope, however do note that there are a few routes that go slightly over. The crag is charaterised by an abundance of easier climbs, and for this reason, is one of the most popular crags in the area.
Does this look better? When I looked at my description I realised that it should be SE to get the sun early - is that the part you meant or do you mean the way the whole crag faces is SE or is the guidebook right with west. We didn't go up to the top end - is it west facing up there? Emma - 28/Aug/11 |

Map location is slightly wrong. Crag is on the first bend after Preore. I can't update the map due to bug with iPad on map form. Crag faces southeast not southwest. Alan James - UKC and UKH - 10/Aug/11 |
