Crag features

This venue has an important place in local climbing history as it is where the semi mythical yuppie of ‘Yuppie’s Arete’ fame (check the cover of the recent guidebook) trained on his lunch hour – he worked in the science park. It became overgrown (like most holes in the dirt hereabouts it does require regular attention – though once clean the rock is quite good) but was rescued by the Pex kids in 2022. Daresbury village (with the Lewis Carroll Centre) lies a short way up the lane and across the Chester Road – the Ring’oBells pub is a handy watering hole. A relaxing venue in pleasant woods which contain a few low outcrops -suitable for a potter about followed by a pint.

Approach notes

From the main entrance to Daresbury Science Park on the A558 take the first L up Keckwick Lane. Footpath leads into the woods and in a few yards to the quarry on the L
