Crimping down on Knuckleduster © peterbull
On the hill on the other side of the road from Cratcliffe is a collection of shady boulders known as Eagle Tor. The land is privately owned and due to the actions of climbers, we no longer have permission to climb here.
The landowners of this small bouldering crag have unfortunately stated to the BMC they no longer allow access, and have installed fencing and signs near the rocks. The owners are decent people with a young family and appreciate the quality of the crag. However, large numbers of boulderers, damaged fencing, defecation near the house, toilet paper and noise have eroded their patience. The boulders are located on private land which is effectively the owners back garden. The owners are within their rights to eject you. The BMC advises climbers to avoid Eagle Tor at present.
