The area offers excellent climbing routes from V to 8b and traditional climbing routes from 6a+ to 7a. The Andean Access Fund (FAA) has dedicated its efforts to protecting the site. The entrance fee is $5. The entire area is signposted, and there is parking, restrooms, and a camping area.
Helmets are required. You'll need 8 to 12 quickdraws, a 60-meter rope for the higher routes, and trad gear for mixed climbing routes.
To get there, you can take a bus to Pifo from the Rio Coca bus station. In Pifo, you can hail a taxi and indicate that you're going to El Rodadero E35. Or, by car, you should drive past Pifo until you reach the roundabout for the Pifo Ruta Viva bypass to the Airport. In a few minutes, you'll see the signs and entrance to El Rodadero on the right.
