βeta: Less scrambling than expected, but fun rest day activity. The first half to the low point is walking with some avoidable scrambling, optional difficulties up to about grade 2 depending on line (the chimney after the climbers path can be avoided by continuing to traverse the rhs and following the blue dots up). The pinnacles are fun and there are two steps of around grade 3 scrambling, but this section is short. We returned via the Kalymnos trail - head approx NW from the chapel over a subsidiary summit then pick up a cairned path which trends across and slightly down. The cairns become blue dots which then seem to disappear and you have to work your way round to the head of the gully where you can pick up the path at the cliff base to get back to the start. There is a bit of a sketch of the descent on the Kalymnos Trail fb page. Pretty sure it's been done lots before (especially as there didn't seem very much loose rock for a limestone ridge) but good it's on here now :-) The FB page seems to refer to it as The Galatiani Great Ridge | βeta? | |
