Rocktype Sandstone (hard)
Altitude 590m a.s.l
Faces W
A small herd of boulders that fortunately stopped rolling down from the summit plateau of Garreg Las and remained just big enough for humans to climb. Regularly blasted by the westerly wind, the sandstone is immaculately clean and the friction is excellent. Suitable for connoisseurs who appreciate fine mountain views and the meditative benefits of a good walk-in.
🚗 Park in a large car-park on the E side of the A4069 Brynamman to Llangadog road, at OS 7324 1875. Google Map Link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/E29zn9rTdm54jTaGA
Follow the track NE and E under Herbert’s Quarry, and then follow the Beacons Way until a few hundred metres before the summit of Garreg Las (Carnau’r Garreg Las). The boulders are down the hillside and about 100m west of the path, at SN 7746 1999, or W3W surprise.fluctuate.digitally. Approx 6km, 80 to 90mins, can be a bit boggy in places.
