Variable rock, from super-rough to very smooth. Some gems, including the classic "Grey Arete" (*** HVS). Multi-pitch routes to 200 metres.
The Upper Cliff of Glyder Fawr is often approached by linking up routes on the Idwal Slabs & Walls then traversing right to reach the desired buttress. A quick scrambling approach by Idwal Buttress or Idwal Staircase (Introductory Gully) is also possible and finally the most direct approach is up the steep scree gully right of Idwal Buttress (unpleasant!).
