Park at the end of Skateraw Rd (57.031691, -2.144135), and walk north on the path that leads down to the beach. Cross the small wooden footbridge, then walk steeply up some steps to the top of the cliffs ahead of you, to reach the fields. Countour the fields south-east wards and reach the edge above the crag (57.032548, -2.140279).
The steps can also be reached from parking beneath the railway.
Abseil from stakes above Flying Circus or scramble down a grassy ridge to the north of the crag.
The sport climbing at Newtonhill Cave is best approached across the beach and It is also possible to approach Harbour Wall and Back Door Wall across the beach at low tide.
What a great little crag, if you think you're an HVS leader this place will show you up if you're not(apparently I'm not). steep, juggy, well protected and sheltered in two directions. Wear your helmet. franksnb - 18/Jul/10 |
