Decent little crag if you live locally, the rock is a course grained sandstone. In winter only visit after a couple of consecutive properly dry days or it'll be damp and scrittly, particularly in the woods. The mainstay of the problems were originally entered from the old online guide supplied by lakesbloc.com.
The original lines are listed here along with some newer additions; all feature annotated topos and expanded descriptions, currently making this the most upto date guide available (all sectors have good mobile signal).
NOTE ON ACCESS RESTRICTION: The access restriction on the main Chapel Ruin Boulder seems utterly pointless as the ancient rock graves (on the top of the block) referenced for preservation are walked on daily by dog walkers and tourists alike. To suggest the occasional boulderer scuttling over the top of this block will some how compound damage/erosion seems highly questionable. There is also no on site signage to make the general public aware of the apparent need for care (surely a measure with far more potential impact), which begs the question how much serious thought anyone at the National Trust actually put into this climbing restriction. Make of that what you will.
Some of the routes are on the coastline, down by the water, the rest are in the wooded area above the church or below the chapel ruin. Each block/sector has its approach info described below.
The landowner - the National Trust - have asked that no climbing takes place on the boulders below the Viking graves which form an ancient monument here. In particular the problem "Stardust" is not to be climbed on as it tops out directly into the graves. The Trust are happy for the other bouldering around Crag in the Woods to continue.
