Crag features

Located in the Cordillera Real of Bolivia, Huyana Potosi is called one of the esiest 6000m peaks in the world. Easy access to La Paz and a hut at 5130m makes it a popular choice with tourists who want to summit a peak in the Andes. For the more experienced mountaineer, there are many choices of more complicated routes, but Via de los franceses would make an excellent acclimatisation route for visitng mountaineers.

Approach notes

Take a jeep (expensive) taxi (cheaper) or hitch a lift with a guide company (cheapest) that is going on the day you wish. To get back, either arrange a pickup with the company that took you out or wait on the road for a local bus to pass.
