Follow the cairns. The real path stays relatively high in the valley and it is well worn.
Walk about 100m down track from parking (if full there is a bigger area 200m up the road), cairns show way to a small promontory jutting into gorge, follow path as it contours gorge then drops down into floor of gorge. Or there is a pine tree with an anchor about 20m North of where the water pipe crosses to the west side of the gorge.
