A collection of astonishing clean boulders in the lake accessible several weeks after no rain. SH 84680 39810. Elevation 300m.
Its hard to believe when you see this lake full to the brim that there is a hidden wonderland of perfect boulders below the surface that appear every so often. In the last few years of dry summers they have been accesible for months at a time and even as the waters rise there is still space to walk along the shoreline and get to them before they disappear again. Clean and very quick drying, the stones present some great challenges in a unique position on what were the hill farms above the drowned village of Capel Celyn in Cwm Tryweryn. The boulders are visible from the visitor centre for Llyn Celyn but are approached via the minor road through Arenig village. Boulder hopping across the Afon Tryweryn from the visitor centre is also possible if risking a dip.
Park by the verge as for apprioach to Arenig Fawr and walk down to the shore.
Roadside parking at SH84583 39547
