Cocina Caliente, the 'Hot Kitchen', and Los Olivitos, are two excellent little venues that are quick to get to and have a good selection of mid-grade climbs. The ease of access and friendly character make them a good choice for a quick hit or as an introduction to the crags hereabouts. Bedees is located on the hillside above Cocina Caliente and presents a fine wall of limestone with some intense, technical and fingery face climbs.
All of the crags face south and catch little in the way of a breeze - it can therefore be scorchingly hot. There is no possibility of climbing in the rain.
From El Chorro, follow the road to Valle de Abdalajis for 1.75km and park 50m before a huge roadside boulder (space for four cars). A small path leads off up the hill to Cocina Caliente and along from below Cocina Caliente to Los Olivitos. For Bedees, head up from the left-hand side of Cocina Caliente.
Park with care as the road is narrow and large lorries use it.
Really great crag fun routes and non polished rock!just need to be careful as there is some loose rock around. We removed a large chunk balancing on the edge half way up but found no other large pieces. Definitely advise a helmet for this crag! tomwright1509 - 20/Sep/14 |
