Urban basalt quarry behind a small lake alongside Maungarei Springs reserve.
Walk around behind the pumphouse for the first few routes. Continue down beside the cliff to the back of the lake for the rest, or walk around over the boulders and follow the path by the lake. Watch out for broken bottles in the rocky descent.

Approach notes
Park at the end of Barbarich Drive and walk down past the pumphouse.
Drive through the Stonefields housing estate, park on the road at the pumphouse by the lake. Don't block the pumphouse gate, park further up the road. You are in a residential area, lay off the swearing and other antisocial behaviour.
