Crag features

The crag is a high rock quality wall high up in the Vassola valley. Cracks and diehdrals are the main dishes here, perfect for removable protection. Nevertheless, the first explorer used a few spit where protections could be tricky, hence it is useful climbing here with two series of friends up to 3BD. Moreover, some of the pitches are very long, that means it is mandatory to use at least 50m ropes to abseil from the bolted belay at the top.  The spot is very isolated and quiet, ocasionally the cows could be nearby, and partially sheltered by West wind. Since the altitude (more then 2000m) and the prevalent East exposition, the crag is suited for summer days, when it is too hot to climb down in the main valley. Also, due to the long approach, it can be convinient to spend two days here, sleeping in the beautiful bivouc placed 20 minutes higher on the mountain ("Bivacco Cecilia Genisio", at the "Alpe del veilet").

Approach notes

From Vonzo (above Chialamberto), take the 325 track to Chiapili and follow it up to the "Piano di Vassola". From here the 324 track ascend on your right passing some alpine pasture, cross the river on a caracteristic equipped slab and continue on the left side (face towards mountains) of the valley. The crag is already visible on the left of the track, as soon as "Alpe rossa di sotto" is reached. Leave the track and cross the scree to gain the base of the wall. 2h from the park (approximately 900 d+).
