Some long walls of decent limestone spread across two tiers. If climbing on the upper tier DON'T trip and fall off the path. The tier below you is 25m high!
A very shady, west-facing crag; good to escape summer heat.
From the N57 (Besancon - Pontarlier road just SE of Besancon turn off L for Montfaucon . Follow the road upwards to a hairpin bend; go straight on along the Chemin du Mont (main road goes on up to the fort and belvedere). After passing an equestrian centre on the L (speed bumps!) turn L at a junction. After about 800m park on the R.
Follow the road to its end and continue downhill along a rough track. After 5 minutes take a path L which leads up through woods and the edge of the meadows. Just after a large sign a path quickly leads to the end of the upper tier.
Possible bird restrictions in Spring?
