A pleasant introduction to the game, or an easy half-day activity. The highlight is a visit to the Great Cave - but don't imagine you are going to be the first - the goats have been popping in (pooping in) for millennia.
Approach (see map on page 351) - The parking is on the upper loop road close to the old marker post, just past a gentle right-hand bend. Walk back past the new houses (where the old path used to be) and up the steep concrete road that runs up the side of the houses. From the end of this, a path (cairns) wanders up and slightly left to a fence and goat-gate. Scramble up through the rock barrier and up the slopes towards the gully under the huge cave. Keep right under the cliff to the top of the gully to locate bolts on the right wall.
1) Grade 3 climbing up the ridge protected by bolts.
2) First section of cables, heading up and left.
3) The bulging traverse goes leftwards above a big drop.
4) Scramble left to the cave.
5) The Great Cave - filled with goat droppings.
6) A second section of cables leads left along the Ramp to the open hillside.
Descent - Continue up to the top of the ridge, then descend straight down the other side (don't trend right) to locate a trail (red paint flashes) in the valley bottom. Turning right, this eventually meets the approach to Symplegades by a long traverse across the slope under Ourania - don't try and descend rightwards any earlier. Around 40 minutes.

UKC Logbook Description
From the top of the gully, follow bolts out right, then back left up slabby rock to the start of the cables. These lead up and left, round the crux bulge, and along into the huge cave. Finish across the slabs and scramble up the gully.
Descent: Walk to the hill top, then walk straight down the slope to pick up the old pack-horse trail that leads down the gorge and out past Symplegades.
Total Time: 4-5 hours
