Rocktype Grit (quarried)
Altitude 304m a.s.l
A small broken quarry with a range of routes, mostly in the VS/HVS range, with a few harder ones sprinkled amongst them. The routes tend to be steep and they require some serious application and speed.
The crag has two sections, a nice west-facing bit (Sunny Side Up) and a slightly less nice north-facing bit (It's Grim Up North) which will nearly always benefit from the application of a brush and some elbow grease. There are solid stakes for the routes in the Sunny Side, but you will need your imagination for the other bit.
Park in the small lay-by opposite the entrance to The Hay Green Hotel, cross the stile and follow the footpath westwards uphill.
|So is Pule Hill, Shooters Nab and other Standedge Area crags from the Lancashire Brick - they are being adopted into the new Moorland Grit.|
