Please be aware that if you are planning to climb here that the rock in this quarry is very unstable and friable. Please take care while climbing here, as large boulders have fallen off.
The features of the Crag are as follows:
Left wall:
2 climbs on left wall are currently without hangers. Plenty of late afternoon/summer evening sunbeams hitting this side of the quarry...
Right wall:
5 climbs on right wall are good, shaded.
Rock is a little chossy in places, but is sound generally. Dries quickly despite facing North.
Park at south end of Tay Road Bridge. Walk East on B946 towards Tayport. After 100m take farm track on right. Follow up hill then off to the right.
As of March 2021, there's a new anchor for Taz, an a new route (6b+) to its right. So now there's 3 routes available to climb.
Many thanks to the setter for the effort. trying.soft - 12/Apr/21 |

Bolts are rusty, I climbed there with a mate on 09/06/2019, we only checked the bolts on Taz and Teenage Flare ( routes on the right). Taz has the last 2 bolts that are not rusty and a single bolt as anchor point. I only looked at Teenage Flare, all the bolts were extremely rusty (we didn't climb on it).
We didn't climb or properly checked the 2 routes on the left. The slabby (name?) climb has the first bolt quite high, we didn't risked it as we were without a crashpad.
Initially, abseiled off a gorse plant from the top of the quarry to check the bolts.
Be careful, there are some curious cows around. mannaggia - 11/Jun/19 |
