Oaks Pinnacle © Ian Archer

Crag features

The only pinnacle of any height in Leicestershire; provides some good quality bouldering.

Topo can be found on Leicestershire Bouldering.

Approach notes

Park at the car park at Mount St Bernard Abbey. Walk east along Oaks Road then turn right on to Abbey Road. Carefully follow this, making sure to watch for speeding traffic, to a footpath on the eastern side of the road. Make your way through the bracken to the pinnacle. ViewRanger Map.

To find the Isolated Pinnacle, follow a vague path running to the left below Clint's Cave and Flat Rock. The path runs uphill to the pinnacle (GPS Coordinates).

Oaks Pinnacle is within an area of CROW Act open countryside (hooray).

Lovely Spot! easy access along a well trodden path, bracken was very low, cant wait for another visit to complete some more problems!

lovely little spot! It's surprising how long one rock can keep you entertained for! Can't wait to go back and send a few more problems, bracken was low and easy access along a well trodden path. rock a little green but very dry and plenty of grip, may be different in wet conditions I imagine.

Went up to day for a spot of sunny afternoon bouldering. Well worth spending an hour or two here. Lovely rock, if somewhat green at times.

well, the rock itself was great but getting to it was truly painful. the bracken is 5 feet high in some places and brambles fill this at ankle high. my ankles are ripped to shreds :s not a great place to go in the summer but well worth a visit any other time.

This is a cracking spot on a sunny day (like today!) The worst problem is the parking - leave your car either at Charley crossroads and walk back up the road (careful - very fast bit of road) or risk the wrath of the LWRT and park in the "official" car park past the Lodge house to the north west.
