Brilliant cragging venue at the entrance to the Palm Tree Gorge above Oumsnat, with routes of all grades and plenty of shade available.
Guidebook says to take left fork in village and park behind auberge lkst in large square. Take right hand lane way past cemetery to mosque. You can also take right fork in village and park at mosque. Walk left from mosque over river bed..keeping ruined village on right til come to steps leading to mosque in next village. Turn right on narrow track mainly to left of river bed past cairns and 1 ruined house to gorge
Approach notes in 2nd edition Morocco Anti-Atlas are misleading. Better parking at the new big Mosque:

Walk up the new concrete road, taking the right hand fork, until passing the Masion Traditionalle 200m sign on the right. Carry on straight until immediately after the buildings where a vague left turn goes downhill past a house with a green door and then over a concrete bridge. Follow vague paths up through the terraces in the gorge on the right hand side (river left) until some bushwhacking through palms leads to the bottom of the crag. LucaC - 29/Oct/22 |
