Crag features

Penberth is a traditional and still active Cornish fishing cove. There are many short routes either side of the cove with easy access and good rock. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere makes it an ideal spot for beginners or for an evening's soloing. One or two harder testpieces exist.

Approach notes

There is strictly no parking at the road end directly above the cove, other than for fishermen and residents. There is very limited parking on the roadside just before the attractive thatched cottage, although this roadside area becomes very busy in the summer months. A pleasant alternative is to park at Treen and follow a way-marked public footpath (difficult to identify at first) across fields and down a beautiful, steep wooded valley into the cove.
